Once cleaned, they discover the dog tags belonged to a Francis Heaton, a local soldier who died in Vietnam. The gang steal him and hide him away in their bunker to nurse back to health but soon begin to experience strange symptoms themselves. Paperwork indicates whatever experiment is being done on the dog is failing and Coop, as Tory christened him, is scheduled to be destroyed. Whilst there they find a wolfdog puppy that had been missing from the area, locked in a cage and sick from parvovirus. To clean the dog tags they break in to a disused lab at the research institute their parents work for. Tory and her group of friends are used to exploring Loggerhead without incident but when one such trip leads to the discovery of some dog tags caked in dirt they soon find themselves in the middle of a dangerous mystery. They live on Morris Island, just off the Carolina coast, with Kit working for a research lab on nearby Loggerhead Island. This book introduces us to Brennan’s grandniece, Tory Brennan, who has only recently been sent to live with her Father, Kit, Brennan’s nephew, and discovered the paternal side of her family. So after finishing all Reichs’ Temperance Brennan books I moved on to her first young adult book, “Virals”.

Repetitive, but hawt, and far better written than I expected. Rachel was insecure and annoying, and I got awfully tired of her changing color more frequently than a broken mood ring, but Saint was a decent hero and the sex in the book was - call me shallow - hawt. I gave it two-stars, but it was a good two-stars, a solidly okay read, and the perfect guilty pleasure read for a lazy afternoon. After all the things people had said about REAL, I was loath to pick up anything by this author, but it turned out to be the perfect example of why sometimes it's good to check a book out despite its bad press. You could bowl me over with a feather after I finished Katy Evan's first book in this series, MANWHORE, and actually thought that it was not all that bad. 5/24/2023 0 Comments Billy by Laura Roybal#CA42: Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, a Democrat, defeated Ocean View School District Board of Trustees member John Briscoe, a Republican, in a district drawn from parts of the districts of retiring Democrats Alan Lowenthal and Lucille Roybal-Allard. Louise de la Vallière is, by court standards, beautiful and innocent when she becomes the king’s mistress. Then the most desirable (married) man in Europe falls in love with a 16-year-old girl. So also, his attractiveness to women, including his brother’s wife. As the king’s reach and power grow, so does his self-confidence. When he makes plans to deprive certain overambitious subjects of the means to undermine him, he consults his advisor, Colbert, but the king is making his own decisions now. The king, now 22, resides at Fontainebleau, a royal chalet surrounded by forest and, given modes of travel, remote from Paris. He inherits a government master-planned by powerful men (Richelieu, Mazarin), seemingly content to be a rubber stamp – until Mazarin dies in 1661. He grows up during the Fronde, a series of violent uprisings. In Koen’s fourth fine novel (after Dark Angels, 2009), Louis XIV’s reign as French monarch is unique in unpredictable ways. 5/24/2023 0 Comments Forms Of Love by Rita Clay EstradaLearning to confront her worst fears, she discovers that redemption can arrive in the strangest of guises. But you can tell from my rating that I loved Jade City, and I’m impressed by just about every element Fonda Lee brought to the table. Many bloggers and reviewers have already praised this book in every way possible, and I’m not sure what else I can add to the mix. With the approach of the series finale later this year- Jade Legacy- I thought it was time to catch up. I was determined to read a backlist fantasy book for #Wyrdandwonder, and I’m so glad I made time for Jade City, a book that’s been on my TBR since it was released in 2017. The nitty-gritty: A nuanced, brutal, epic saga of clan rivalry, loyalty, betrayal and revenge, set in a vivid Asian inspired fantasy world. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. 5/24/2023 0 Comments We Sinful Women by Rukhsana AhmadI along with artist Shahid Rassam and poet Fazil Jamili met her at the said venue.ĭuring conversation I found her a humble person. She agreed to have a detailed meeting at Beach Luxury Hotel room. But our common friend renowned artist and sculptor Shahid Rassam introduced me to her while attending the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF), 2018. So having this image in mind I hesitated to talk to her when I met her on various occasions. She is widely acclaimed for her sharp and incisive poetic expression, for being bold and direct, and, for celebrating the universal human struggle for equality, justice and freedom. Her straight forward approach on some sensitive subjects regarding women made her household name across the country. She used to go in literary and intellectual gathering including master artists and hence many renowned artists painted her portraits. I was impressed by her because of her affiliation with art giants such as Sadequain, M F Hussain and Colon David. I have been listening, reading and watching Kishwar Naheed for along time. 5/23/2023 0 Comments The inimitable jeeves gutenbergMost unusually, it was pieced together from a number of short stories that had already appeared, featuring the jolly joker Bertie Wooster and his ingenious valet Jeeves.
